spring 2022 | spike branding & packaging design

In Spring 2022 I was tasked with creating niche micro-branding for a product to be sold in a standard 4 fl oz. glass bottle which targets Gen Z. I was to design an outer carton, bottle label, and brand extension. Given the prompt, I devised a brand of liquid sour candy supplements called Spike.

Spike is my idea of “sour candy for big kids”. I am a shameless lover of sour candy, but the visual identities of most sour candy products on the market today seem to be targeting tween boys. I wanted to design something current and energetic yet clean. I devised a system called “Spike Factor”, which can specify the degree of sourness associated with each flavor of Spike (similar to spice ratings on hot sauces).
